Les Craquelins Margely
The word ?craquelin? is said to come from the Dutch crakelinc, meaning "dry cookie that cracks under the tooth" (a fitting definition).
For the inhabitants of the Rance valley, Craquelins are a veritable Madeleine de Proust. This traditional Breton cookie, emblematic of the region, seduces with a texture that's both crunchy and delicately melting.
Based on an almost century-old recipe, they are made from a scalded and oven-baked dough, with no added fat or salt, revealing the authentic flavor for which this regional specialty is renowned. Naturally rich in protein, they are suitable for a wide range of diets, and can be enjoyed both sweet and savoury, hot or cold.
Since 1929, Craquelins Margely has been one of the region's longest-established craftsmen, perpetuating a largely manual family tradition. In Plumaudan, these shell-shaped puffed breads are made with exacting standards and local produce, for an authentic, inimitable taste.
For breakfast, as an aperitif or as a gourmet side dish, Craquelins are the embodiment of a typical Breton experience.
Available at the Margely workshop and in local shops, they are a crunchy break emblematic of the Rance Valley and Emerald Coast.
