Exposition peinture de Virginie Landier

Virginie Landier is the daughter of painter-engraver Henri Landier. The three hand-operated presses in the studio were the focus of her childhood attention. As a child, Virginie accompanied her father on his trips to Italy. She discovered Giotto, Bellini, Tintoretto, Veronese and Caravaggio. The landscapes of Tuscany were a revelation to her. With her father, she patiently learns the techniques of drypoint, etching and aquatint; she trains in lithography in Babette Pons? studio and has her first exhibition in Paris on her 22nd birthday. After an artist residency at the Yvonne Jean-Haffen Museum in 2008, she decided to settle in Brittany. From now on, she prints her own prints on her hand presses.

A painter who goes to the motif, it is only after a long period of frequenting the area that she achieves intimacy with the landscape through drawing. She often uses watercolours to capture an emotion on the spot, which can give rise to oils, etchings or lithographs. For Virginie Landier, everything becomes movement, provided the alchemy works. She draws lines on the verge of imbalance and favors color. In her themes, she seeks surprise, even the unusual. A painting seems "successful" to her when an abundance of singular stories and anecdotes make sense. Open daily from 3pm to 7pm. Mornings by appointment, closed weekly on Wednesdays. Free admission.
