In the 15th century, this edifice replaced the château chapel, first dedicated to Notre-Dame until 1625, then to Saint-Jean, to which was added "du Baly" to recall the promenade laid out on the site of the then-destroyed walls.
In 1760, the spire above the "Beaumanoir" bell tower was demolished.
