Seuil critique de Thomas Daveluy et Guillaume Lepoix

Visiting Dourven for the first time in September 2024, when the park was still reeling from the storm, they photographed the chaos of this devastated landscape. This wild mess was the starting point for their artistic research.

They began a practice that put a place to the test of its own image. In this place, long maintained then abruptly dismantled, the artists seek that tipping point where control gives way and matter takes the initiative again.

Through the prism of digital technology (scanning, photogrammetry, projection), they now revisit this photographic material, as well as their own memories, confronting them with the new face of the park.

For the "Seuil critique" exhibition at the Galerie du Dourven, they have imagined a sensory space "between two", where gaps, shifts and ghosts are welcomed as clues to a material memory. In an approach that is neither nostalgic nor demonstrative, their intention remains that of bearing witness to a shattered landscape that gives rise to a sublime disorder.

The artists :

Thomas Daveluy and Guillaume Lepoix met at the École européenne supérieure d?art de Bretagne - site de Lorient in 2010. Sharing a common and complementary vision of new technologies and the way they make sense of creation, they regularly collaborate on residencies and exhibition projects in France and abroad.

Their artistic reflections revolve around the landscape and its representation in the digital age. The issues and problems that inform their respective work have constantly intersected, giving rise to numerous artistic collaborations in recent years.
