Rendez-vous aux jardins - Jardin de Ker Louis
"The garden as an art of living in nature" is what best characterizes this 20,000 m2 space, landscaped in 1980. The decision to make the most of the slope of the land, with an optimized view from the house that is only revealed as you walk along, is very interesting. Each curve reveals a new perspective that keeps the walker on his toes. The garden blends harmoniously into its surroundings. Although the boundaries of the garden are mainly planted with trees, visitors also discover numerous rose bushes and acid-loving plants, perennial beds in pastel shades structured with warm hues in the center: a delight."
The garden features numerous settings with long perspectives that encourage visitors to explore further. The path is laid out on an English-style lawn. It winds its way through beds of trees, shrubs and perennials. Pastel tones are favored, and the colors of the flowerbeds are orchestrated according to Gertrude Jekyll's theory (viewed with a certain distance, the entire "mixed-border" appears like a painting, with the cool colors of the extremities enhancing the warm glow of the center). The garden includes a Zen garden and a water feature, the centerpiece of the visit. Enthusiasts can discover around 300 rhodos, 250 camellias, a hundred or so roses, hydrangeas, 60 magnolias, several dozen araliaceae, trees with decorative bark - acer snakeskin, prunus serrula, prunus maackii, acer griseum, betulas -? trees from Chile... numerous varieties of maple, including a hundred from Japan, oaks and firs.
