A comedy of manners in 3 acts by Raymond Vincy and Jean Valmy, about emancipation and the satire of appearances. The story: a restaurateur in the Halles district has had her handbag containing her identity papers stolen. Ten years later, wanting to marry her bartender, she learns that her thief has married a young baron, using his own name. She shows up at the manor house of her "legal husband" to tell him the truth and ask for a divorce, thus disrupting the lives of the baron and his aunt, a countess with a strong sense of tradition.
