"You're not born a child, you become one through the deafness of adulthood. This book aims to undo age (as "biological evidence") and childhood (as a state of "objective dependence"), in the same way that Judith Butler has undone gender and Elsa Dorlin has undone race. Indeed, the notion of age has long eluded an approach in terms of social relations of power: it seems that children don't work, and that we protect them.
