Exposition Photos : "Des Mains"- Aude Guillot
"Two hands looking for each other is enough for tomorrow's roof." André Breton, Signe ascendant
This June, the library is delighted to welcome the photographs of Aude Guillot. She takes a singular look at anonymous hands, which tell silent stories and say something about their owners; these photos challenge us: do our hands say who we are? Do they carry a part of our identity?
A few words from the artist:
"Every day, I rush through the crowds in the subway cars. These blurred silhouettes move alongside me without any one of them really standing out? until I catch the gaze of their hands. In the hustle and bustle before me, the hands pause. I photograph them like portraits. Each of them offers me a gesture, a movement, sometimes even a grimace? During these ephemeral encounters, these hands tell me their story. Their wrinkles, their stigmata, their aesthetics express their emotions and reflect their lives
Work carried out on cell phone for greater spontaneity, and processed in black & white to bring unity to all this diversity.
Bio :
My first photograph was taken with a small Kodak camera given to me at the end of a summer job. The images that followed were the result of travels and encounters. Film encourages the eye, movement and reflection, while digital offers choice, fantasy and instantaneity? so I try, I test, I refine my representation of the world and my environment through my different lenses.
