"Shells

A member of the Costarmorican association La Ruche des Arts, Philippe learned photography at the age of 13 from his father, a passionate photographer. Life took me away from my passion, but in 2010, I decided to make my dream come true. I took a CAP in photography as an independent candidate, attended the École du Louvre in Paris and finally became... a photographer?

The artist installed a dozen paintings at La Boîte for an exhibition entitled Ce que murmurent les coquilles.

In the beginning, there is only a tiny breath, an almost imperceptible pulsation in the water. The mollusc, as fragile as a new idea, begins to secrete a thin film of limestone around itself. Every day, the animal adds a layer, a thread of matter, a whisper of mother-of-pearl. The shell builds like a patient poem, line after line, curve after curve. It retains the memory of tides, currents and silences. The striations that run through it are so many chapters, written without ink, but with the precision of a craftsman who never makes a mistake.

In these spirals, we believe we see the secret logic of the world. A geometry that doesn't impose itself, but rather invites itself, soft and regular, as if nature had found a way of expressing infinity. And when the shell finds itself alone on the sand, long after its inhabitant has disappeared, it continues to tell its story. To look at a shell in close-up is to approach a secret. It's to see how life patiently sculpts its refuge," explains Philippe Boulenger.

The artist will be present on Saturday May 30, from 10am to 5pm, and on June 6 and 7, from 10am to 6pm.

The exhibition is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm.
