Exposition "D’un monde à l’autre", Olivier Cardin

After studying graphic art at the Lycée Corvisart, then at the École Nationale Supérieur Arts Décoratifs (Paris), Olivier Cardin turned to drawing and painting through the works of Nicolas de Staël, Van Gogh, Modigliani and Soutine.

Between dreams, mythology, obsessive thoughts and explosive emotions, Olivier Cardin?s painting is like a distorting mirror, serving as therapy for both the painter and those who venture into it.

He paints the hope that shines in matter, to emerge from chaos, from the blackness of night.

With a child?s soul, on the white rectangle, studded paper or canvas, a void always difficult to fill, a silent place where I take refuge, to protect myself and stroll, searching for the gesture, the universal line, the balance, the harmony of colors, or human or animal forms, to share, an emotion, a joy, a movement, a feeling, glances, tears, a smile, an opinion...!

"To paint or draw in all humility, the frailties of humanity, the shortcomings of the human species, the wanderings, the doubts, the obscure battles that embrace us, between good and evil, love or hate, everything gets tangled up, black, white, color, nothingness, when our suffering souls go through storms and hurricanes
