Concert choeurs et airs d'opéras de Mozart
Vespers
Opera arias and choruses
After the success of the "Messa di Gloria and Italian opera arias and choruses" concert in July
july 2024, Le ch?ur Plein Chant de Saint-Germain-en-Laye returns to Saint-Jacut de la mer
mer and invites you to its Mozart in the Church concert.
Mozart was 24 when, in Salzburg, he composed Les Vêpres Solennelles d'un Confesseur
and had them performed for the first time on September 30, 1780, St. Jerome's Day.
These Vespers are called "of a Confessor" because they celebrate a "non-martyr" saint (in this case, Saint Jerome), who by all the acts of his life confessed, i.e. proclaimed, his faith. This beautiful work comprises 5 psalms, and ends with a Magnificat.
Mozart's operas are also among the pinnacles of lyric art. Magnificent arias and choruses from these operas will also be sung by the choir and soloists
choir and soloists. They come from well-known operas (The Magic Flute, Idomeneo, Titus?
Clémence de Titus?) and lesser-known operas (Lucio Silla, Thamos roi d?Egypte?).
The Plein Chant choir (80 singers) will be directed by Sandrine Carpentier and accompanied by
pianist Kanako Horikawa and 4 soloists. Clémence Levy (soprano), Annouk Jobic
(mezzo-soprano), Matthieu Justine (tenor) and Jean-Gabriel Saint-Martin (baritone).
