In 2015, the drying-up of the Guerlédan hydroelectric dam revealed the valley and its slate quarries, sometimes clinging to the side of the escarpments. They were abandoned just before the dam was built.

It was an unhoped-for opportunity for director Jean Luc Chevé to collect the memories of the quarrymen?s descendants. The valley was home to a number of slate quarries, some of which were located on steep slopes. In the midst of the quarries, shelters and hovels, he gathered the testimonies of quarrymen?s grandchildren, recounting their labors and social lives. Simone, the eldest, was 7 years old when the dam was built, and she remembers the smallest details and smells. Meanwhile, the dam is being examined and restored. The months and seasons go by, with some rain. But autumn rains are slow to come, so will we be able to fill the dam over the winter? Groups welcome.
