Forêt Départementale de Beffou
Until the 18th century, Beffou was the site of intense metallurgical activity. The forest became national property after the French Revolution, but theft and looting continued. In 1877, the Guillet family bought the forest, which consisted of a thin coppice of little value. Extensive work was carried out to reconstitute the forest capital, with two-thirds of the forest set aside for over 80 years.
It became departmental property in 1951. The 630-hectare forest is the highest in Brittany, with Le Pavé, the highest point in the Trégor region, at 322 m, at its heart.
Beffou is home to the Brohet covered walkway, one of the longest in Brittany. The ancient Roman road linking Le Yaudet to Carhaix runs through the town.
