Bois de Coat-Liou
The Coat Liou tower dominates the whole region and can be seen from a great distance, from Guingamp and the surrounding area. You can go to the top of the tower. It stands at the highest point of the Coat Liou woods. There are two hiking trails (45 min and 1 h 45) in this private forest, open to the public (on foot only) from March to September.
What was the tower used for?
Some still say it may have been a relay station for Chappe's optical telegraph. But this version is contradicted by experts who believe it was built solely for the pleasure of climbing up and observing the surrounding landscape. It was once topped by a glass roof.
