Site de l'étang du Moulin Neuf
The 16-hectare pond, inherited from the Lesmoal mill, is fed by the River Yar. Sometimes flooded, sometimes wet, sometimes dry, it is the variation in water levels that provides this diversity of habitats and life.
The tidal range plays an essential role for wildlife: many birds come here to overwinter. If you're patient, you may even come across an otter. A special observatory offers information and discretion. See without being seen!
This richness has enabled the site to join the European Natura 2000 network in 2007, and to become an integral part of the Réserve Naturelle Régionale des moes, prairies et étangs de Plounérin. These areas are managed by mowing and grazing with Camargue horses, Highland Cattle and Breton draught horses. The site has become a place of relaxation for all publics.
