Prés salés
Like other large French bays, the National Nature Reserve of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc shelters an environment of great ecological interest at the bottom of the cove of Yffiniac. It constitutes, after the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, the most extensive area of the North Armorican coast. The salt meadows or "herbus" are visible between the bridge of the Cage in Langueux until the point of Illemont in Hillion. Its perimeter is a Zone of Reinforced Protection not accessible, but observable since the dike and the coastal path. The richness of its plant cover is sought after by thousands of birds, but it is also a feeding ground for fish such as sea bass and sole. Observe this characteristic landscape from the top of the slopes ("schorre") to the lowest part of the maritime marsh ("slikke") which, when in contact with the tides, is covered with halophilic plants (saltwort, obione, spartina).
