Did you know?
The Notre-Dame de la Garde oratory at the top of the point is a real eye-catcher. Built in 1949 from local Saint-Cast stone, it was the result of a wish expressed by the Castins, who were spared during the 1944 Liberation bombings. Topped by a majestic 3-metre-high granite statue dedicated to Notre-Dame du Guildo, the oratory is a reminder of the resilience and faith of the local people. Today, it is a place of meditation and cultural interest, as well as offering a breathtaking view of the sea.
Visitor tips :
Don't miss the sunrises on this headland: the views are breathtaking. As well as enjoying views over Pen Guen beach and Arguenon bay, look east to see Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer and west to discover Grande Plage and the port.
