Les Pierres Sonnantes
How to get there :
From Notre-Dame du Guildo, head towards the port to park.
Then take the GR34 customs path and walk west along the bay for about five minutes. Les Pierres Sonnantes is just beyond the wooden footbridge, on the shore.
The site is also accessible by bus all year round on the Breizhgo Saint-Cast > Saint-Malo line 214, "Le Port" stop.
Practical information :
On the Goule d'Enfer beach lie the mysterious Pierres Sonnantes.
These scattered rocks have a fascinating peculiarity: they emit a metallic sound when struck with another stone, like an echo from another time.
Please note that the stones may be inaccessible during high tides, so ask at the tourist office.
Free parking and toilets are available at the end of the parking lot. The site is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Did you know?
Breton legend has it that the giant Gargantua left these stones behind on a trip to Brittany.
After a monumental indigestion, he is said to have spat out these rocks, which have remained here to mark the region with his passing. Each echoing sound could be a reminder of the giant's presence.
Visitor tips:
At high tide and in good weather, it's possible to spot seals on the offshore barges.
After your walk, a gourmet break at the "Les Bonheurs d?Éléonore" tea room awaits you on the port (reservation recommended).
