Lac de Guerlédan
A vast expanse of water covering more than 300 hectares between Mûr-de-Bretagne and the Cistercian abbey of Bon Repos, Lake Guerlédan is the largest artificial lake in Brittany, a veritable ocean of fresh water coiled up in a deep valley that looks like a real little mountain!
Held back by a hydroelectric dam, the lake occupies the bed of the Blavet river, which is channelled, stretches over 12 km and winds around high hills of sandstone and shale where all shades of green are mixed: to the south the deep green of the Quénécan forest (private forest) and, facing it, the green of the pastures and crops of the Caurel and Saint-Gelven plateaus. A haven of peace for those who love tranquillity and relaxation, Guerlédan is also ideal for all water and nature activities: beach, fishing, canoeing, water skiing, sailing, climbing, hiking, horseback riding, cycling, mountain biking... . Hiking and trekking enthusiasts will let themselves be guided by the 40 km of marked trails sometimes bordering, sometimes overhanging the shores of Lake Guerlédan and allowing them to make the full tour.
