Lac de Guerlédan

Tucked away in the hills of central Brittany, Lac de Guerlédan stretches the length of the Vallée du Blavet.

The construction of the Guerlédan hydroelectric dam in the 1920s led to the deliberate flooding of the Guerlédan valley. The valley was still active at the time, with the few boats and barges on the Nantes-Brest canal passing through the locks thanks to the lock-keepers. Quarrymen came to work in the many shale quarries, to drink at the café guinguette and families could be heard living in the valley. The Tregnanton site is steeped in memories!

The creation of the lake and the final immersion of the valley in 1930 irreparably cut the Nantes-Brest canal in two, interrupting river navigation.

Over the years, the lake has become a popular resort for families on vacation, fishermen, sports enthusiasts and hikers.

The site of Tregnanton, on the heights of Lac de Guerlédan, offers visitors a choice of the most exceptional viewpoints. Moors and gorse surround the thick slate leaves.

An exceptional fishing site, like the rest of Lac de Guerlédan, a pier allows boats to dock in a small cove with a Nordic feel.

Bordered by the private forest of Quénécan, the Liscuis moors and the Gorges de Daoulas (included in the Natura 2000 wildlife protection area), the western side of Lac de Guerlédan offers a wealth of natural and heritage treasures to discover.
