La vallée du Faoudel
The Faoudel valley in Saint-Nicolas-du-Pélem is a unique place where nature and history meet. Between granite rocks sculpted by time, cool forest, discreet river and traces of heritage, this former railroad line offers a bucolic escapade accessible to all.
The strangely shaped rocky chaos gives free rein to the imagination: some see a giant fish, others an oyster, or even a mysterious island. Children will love exploring this astonishing, ever-changing landscape as they stroll along.
The trail follows the former route of the Saint-Nicolas-du-Pélem? Guingamp railway line, opened in 1924. The small steam train ran on this line for only a few years, before operations ceased in 1937 for economic reasons. Today, the track has been redeveloped as a gentle hiking trail, closed to motorized vehicles, ideal for walking and cycling.
From the Moulin du Rocher, which owes its name to the imposing granite boulders lining the path, the route runs peacefully alongside the river and through lush green countryside, offering freshness and calm in all seasons. It's an ideal family walk, easy and fun, combining discovery, relaxation and observation.
A peaceful place, between industrial memory and mineral imagination, not to be missed by lovers of easy, poetic walks.
