La Pointe du Yaudet
This promontory, in the heart of the Leguer estuary, is formed by two plateaus separated by a steep slope: the first with an average altitude of 40 m, the second culminating at 61 m. Property of the department since 1980, this sensitive natural space of 10 hectares is composed in its natural part of coastal moors and cliffs with granite chaos at the foot.
In its more protected part, an oak wood could develop. The dwarf form of the individuals is due to the maritime influence.
Three blocks or "granite balls" emerge on the site, in an isolated way, following the degradation of the granite massif of Plouaret: the Pierre Branlante, the Rochers de Château and the Rochers de Beaumanoir.
This promontory offers a magnificent panorama on the bay of the Virgin and the estuary of the Léguer. This natural fortress has controlled one of the main access routes to the interior of Brittany for over 2,000 years. The vestiges of all the civilizations testify to the occupation of the site since the end of the Iron Age. The "murus gallicus" was transformed at the time of the Roman conquest, around which was born the city of Vetus Civitas, today the Yaudet.
Parking du Yaudet : access to the GR 34, 6 km and 8.5 km hiking loops, 7 km hiking loop departure, 1.5 km interpretation trail. Nature outings and exhibitions animate the site all year long. Complete program in the tourist office.
