La Chaire des Druides

The commune of Maël-Pestivien, which is located on the Quintin-Duault granite massif, is sometimes called the water tower of Brittany

So don't be surprised by the few wet passages that are also part of the circuit. The path leads you to the top of a wooded hill, where the "Chaire des Druides" is hidden. There is no historical evidence that Druids ever met here. Only the legend and these impressive rocks surrounded by trees surround the place with a certain mystery

On the "Stone of Sacrifice", a human figure seems to have been carved into the rock. Opposite him, a beech tree has chosen to grow on a rock. Clinging to the stone, the tree was one of the only ones to remain standing during the great storm of 1987

The atmosphere around the pulpit is conducive to reviving the legends and various myths born in this place. The stone of the sun and the stone of the sacrifices still suggest ancestral practices. On one of the rocks, one can distinguish the shape of a head, a body and legs

A few hundred metres away, on the way back, learn that the farm on your left was, in the 18th and 19th centuries, the family home of Villiers de l'Isle Adam, the writer born in Saint-Brieuc.
