If centenaire de Plaintel

The church of Saint-Pierre in the village of Plaintel has a venerable neighbour: a yew tree planted in the middle of the 14th century! More than 650 years old for a tree now classified by the department. Its wingspan of 17 metres, its height of 15 metres and the width of its trunk of 6.10 metres are impressive. The yew is often associated with death. Very ancient funeral practices remind us that the yew can be as dangerous because of the toxicity of its leaves as it has been a symbol of immortality since Antiquity.
