Flèche dunaire à Sables d'Or les Pins

Between Cap d'Erquy and Cap Fréhel, Sables d'Or-les-Pins unfurls its majestic dune spit, a natural jewel sculpted by tides and winds. This unique area combines a golden sand beach with a 50-hectare estuary classified Natura 2000, a haven for exceptional flora and fauna.

Behind the dune, the Islet estuary reveals a natural larder where sediments, channels and mudflats attract a multitude of birds that can be observed at low tide.

How to get there :

Located between Plurien and Sables d?Or-les-Pins, the site is accessible on foot, by bike or by car, with free parking in the surrounding streets.

A PMR path leads from the lake promenade to the entrance to the dune spit.

Practical information :

Please check the tide times on the dedicated websites or contact the Sables d'Or les Pins-Fréhel tourist office.

Guided tours are offered during the school vacations by the Grand Site Cap d'Erquy - Cap Fréhel, providing a better understanding of this rare and fragile ecosystem.

Advice to visitors:

At high tide: Take a dip in this ephemeral, often warmer inland sea, or try your hand at paddling or kayaking with the Fréhel nautical center.

At low tide: Cross the spit and look out over the marsh to admire biodiversity in action, including birds foraging for mud and channels.

Did you know?

Legend has it that the beach owes its golden hue to the treasures of a sunken island, nicknamed "Love Island". Once upon a time, a warrior and the lord?s daughter fell in love. Their kiss caused a tremor, engulfing the island and spreading its riches, which, polished by the water, turned to golden sand.
