Chêne vert - Parc des Promenades
One of the oldest holm oaks in the department is from Brioche! For 150 years, this venerable oak has been comfortably installed on the edge of the Promenades park, and is clearly visible from the Avenue de la Libération, at the entrance to the city center. It is undoubtedly a contemporary of the Second Empire in Saint-Brieuc! Originally from the Mediterranean basin, holm oaks differ from common oaks notably by their more toothed or thorny leaves (they are also called holly oaks for this reason). The fruits are acorns which animals are fond of and the wood is used for heating.
