Carrière du chêne marqué

On the outskirts of Mégrit, the recently restored Carrière du Chêne Marqué offers a bucolic interlude ideal for walkers, picnickers and fishermen. This site, witness to a rich industrial past, has been transformed into a soothing green setting where heritage, nature and leisure combine.

A history etched in granite

A former granite quarry actively exploited between the early 20th century and the 1960s, the site contributed to the reconstruction of emblematic cities such as Saint-Malo and Brest after the Second World War. Much more than just an extraction site, this area was also a place of life: workers toiled here, while local grocery stores and cider vendors enlivened the days. As for the village women, they came here to wash their clothes.

The decline in activity in the 80s and 90s, in the face of competition from foreign materials, marked the end of the site?s exploitation. Today, the site has been given a new lease of life as a natural and cultural space accessible to all.

How to get there?

From Mégrit, follow the signs for Dinan. The quarry entrance is clearly signposted and easy to reach, just a few minutes from the village.

Practical info:

Parking, picnic tables and a pontoon specially designed for anglers.

Tips for visitors :

To take full advantage of the site's beauty, consider a stroll around the lake in the early morning or late afternoon, when the light highlights the reflections and cliffs. You can also extend your visit with a hike in the wooded surroundings of Mégrit, an ideal getaway for nature lovers.
